Profile
Kimberly and Enrique Sevilla opened this idyllic gift and gardening shop in October 2008, naming it after Kimberly’s longtime floral fixation and the couple’s toddler, Lavender. The back of the space is wallpapered in sheet music and maps, with a twittering bird perched in a cage in the corner. Potted cacti are clustered near the door amid an army of variously sized garden gnomes. The teeming flora is loosely containedvines cascade from above, delicate orchids curve over Moroccan-rose- and Japanese-peony-scented candles, and pastel roses bloom on shelves and tables. Seed packets of tomatoes, peppers, and herbs line tall racks, near vintage planters, colored-glass water spritzers, wrapped sugar cubes, and curvaceous absinthe spoons. A small refrigerated section holds bins of freshly cut flowers for bouquets; the staff also designs floral arrangements for weddings and special events. The shop hosts classes on the basicsorganic gardening, composting, floral arrangingas well as quirkier offerings, like pickling and soapmaking.
