The biggest event in the snooker calendar is back, as the 2025 World Snooker Championship takes centre stage at the iconic Crucible Theatre in Sheffield from 19 April to 5 May. Reigning World Champion Kyren Wilson will be out to retain his crown, but with fierce competition, the battle for the title is set to be tough as the steel city itself.
BBC Sport will once again provide extensive coverage of the World Championship ensuring fans won’t miss a moment of the action. Watch live coverage on BBC One, BBC Two, iPlayer and evening sessions on BBC Four. Matches will be shown in full from the opening round to the final, with every ball potted shown on iPlayer and the BBC Sport website/app.
The BBC’s presenting team will be Hazel Irvine, Seema Jaswal and Rishi Persad, with reporting from Shabnam Younus-Jewell and Abigail Davis. Audiences can expect expert commentary and insights from snooker legends Steve Davis, Stephen Hendry, John Parrott, Ken Doherty, Dennis Taylor and John Virgo, alongside some of today’s top-ranked players including Masters winner, Shaun Murphy.

For extended coverage audiences can also tune into Snooker Extra every night on BBC Two and iPlayer to see the action from the best of the day’s early games.
5 Live will have regular updates and features in programmes throughout the tournament, with Jamie Broughton reporting live from the Crucible. Ahead of the tournament itself, audiences can also tune into the draw for the World Championships live on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds on the morning of 17 April, to find out Kyren Wilson’s highly anticipated first matchup, along with the 15 other first round matches.
Earlier this year, BBC Sport and World Snooker Tour agreed an extension to their broadcast agreement to 2032, ensuring the Triple Crown remains free-to-air for many millions of snooker fans across the UK.
