California native Julie Chaiken used her London School of Economics degree and her M.B.A. in Finance from NYU -- not to start a career on Wall Street but to launch a cutting-edge fashion line. The label's designer, Jeff Mahshie, debuted at 7th on Sixth during the fall of 1999 and has worked with John Bartlett and Giorgio di Sant'Angelo. The Chaiken line, which became famous for the "Chaiken pants," has expanded to include everything from swimwear to eveningwear. In recognition of his achievements, the CFDA recently inducted Jeff Mahshie as a member. He currently sits on the Admissions Council.
