From a fashion-mad four-year-old to the only guy in his high school sewing club, David Rodriguez was certain early on that fashion would be part of his life. The Mexican-American designer attended the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles; immediately after graduating, he started his own line of men's shirts. Frustrated by the conservative nature of the men's market, he closed his line after just two years, at which point he went to work for Richard Tyler as an assistant designer. His subsequent gig was as a ready-to-wear coordinator for Chanel. Rodriguez has won many awards for his achievements in fashion design. In 2001, he was the recipient of the Hispanic Designers' MODA award for design excellence and was accepted as a member of the CFDA. He continues to expand his collection, having recently introduced fur and accessory lines. |
