Despite having been forced to cancel his premiere collection
due to the September 11 attacks, Diego Binetti has reason to
smile; the former design director for Jill Stuart has been getting
a good response to his first line from buyers and editors alike.
Binetti's love for women's clothes started at home, watching
his mother make "dresses and gowns for the ladies to go to galas."
He also learned the trade from his uncle, a tailor. Binetti's
family later moved to Florida, where he studied at the International
Fine Arts College in Miami. In 1995, the designer moved to Milan,
and two years later he landed in New York.
