Encouraged by Geoffrey Beene and inspired by Halston, Douglas
Hannant started in the fashion industry as a merchandiser. In
1992 he left the merchandising field and started designing.
The Illinois native studied at F.I.T. in New York, where he
devised a design philosophy about striking a balance. Hannant
says he wants the women he dresses to look modern and polished
at the same time that they feel comfortable and relaxed. Some
celebrities who wear Hannant's designs include: Bette Midler,
Natalie Cole, Celine Dion, and Mary J. Blige. |
