Oliver Dow (pictured) graduated from New York University
with a BFA in Drama, but turned his attention to fashion as
cofounder of the Planet Claire clothing line. His marketing
and sales expertise, coupled with his love of theater and fashion,
led him to create the "Girls Rule!" line with partner Darren
Greenblatt, who as a child would redesign the costumes of old
Hollywood movies for fun. Greenblatt has worked under both Betsey
Johnson and, later, Christian Francis Roth. Along with his brother,
he opened Ka-bel-waar, a fashion jewelry design house, in 1993.
The success of Ka-bel-waar motivated Darren to start an independent
production and marketing company to showcase young talent. "Half
of me is a hard-core artist and designer; the other half a business
man, knowing that there has to be a way of being true to both
halves," he says.
