Jason Bunin's parents recognized their son's interest in the arts in high school
and enrolled him in several illustration and design courses
at the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit. Soon after, Bunin
moved to New York and studied at Parsons, after which he designed
accessories and handbags for Jill Stuart and, subsequently,
sportswear for the Bill Blass Group. In 1995, Bunin joined Isaac
Mizrahi in the Fabric Research and Development department, where
he refined his grasp of luxurious textures and color. Bunin
debuted his men's designer-sportswear collection for the spring/summer
1999 season, and a few months later was awarded the Fashion
Group International's Rising Star Award for Men's Wear.
