London-born Matthew Williamson has become a favorite among fashionistas and the press. Williamson formed his company in September 1996 and debuted the following year at London Fashion Week where he made himself known for his unique color sense and exquisite embroidery and beading. In February 2002, Williamson took his Fall 2002 collection to show in New York for the first time. The move proved to be a success, and Williamson has shown at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week every season since. Williamson continues to expand his horizons both within his company and in other arenas. Last year, he produced a photo exhibition in London called "Five Years in Fashion: A Celebration." To celebrate his five years in the business, Williamson had celebrity photographer Rankin photograph eleven of his inspirations, each wearing his clothing. Models included Gwyneth Paltrow, Kirsten Dunst, Heather Graham, Jade Jagger, Sophie Dahl and Plum Sykes. Matthew's recent endeavors within his company include new menswear, babywear and "lifestyle" collections.
