After studying
fashion at the Massey University Design School, New Zealand
native Rebecca Taylor got her foot in the door of the fashion
industry working as an assistant for Cynthia Rowley. She stayed
with Rowley for six years before leaving to develop her own
line. In 2000, Taylor opened her flagship store in Japan, and
has been a fixture on the international runway circuit ever
since. Characterized by delicate, romantic fabrics and cuts
paired with bold color choices like fuchsia and orange, her
creations have quickly gained popularity among basic-black-eschewing
celebrities like Jennifer Lopez and Cameron Diaz. Taylor was
nominated for the prestigious CFDA Perry Ellis Award for her
urban, sexy designs in 2000.

At one point, back home in New Zealand, Rebecca seriously considered a career as a mime! |

Rebecca on Rebecca: "I have a very ethereal sensiblilty. I'm fascinated by anything that sparkles or anything that looks translucent. Anything that has a bit of romance or magic about it. " |
