It’s blockbuster season, when overinflated hopes meet the crushing Godzilla foot of reality. But at multiplexes, hope springs eternal, or at least the air conditioning does, and probability says that a few of this summer’s tentpoles should be good for more than just $100 million explosions. Can X-Men: Days of Future Past overcome scandal (and its subtitle)? How about Edge of Tomorrow, in which Tom Cruise battles aliens and a nasty case of déjà vu? In any case, there’s always TV—good or bad, HBO’s much-hyped The Leftovers will at least let you enjoy the end-time from your living room.
