IN 1950, THE City College of New York men’s basketball team won the NCAA and NIT tournaments at Madison Square Garden—a rare feat. A year later, seven members of the team were arrested in a point-shaving scheme that ultimately involved 32 current and former players from several teams, and proved to be one of the greatest (known) scandals in college sports.
