ABC’s summer-share beach-house-themed reality-TV show One Ocean View is under house arrest. Tidy Ocean Beach, where the show is set, bans public-walkway ice-cream-cone consumption and filming after 11 P.M. downtown. Shooting is okay in bars, but the bars aren’t giving permission. “Our patrons wouldn’t be happy if we had film crews in here at night,” says a manager of the local pub Housers. Neighbors wouldn’t cooperate either. “They tried to come over for a party,” says Brian Korb, whose share house is next door to ABC’s. “But we wouldn’t sign the waivers. We’re a bunch of Manhattan lawyers and business guys—there’s no way we want to be on reality TV!” The show’s creator, The Real World’s Jonathan Murray, says, “The show’s not just about being in a bar and getting drunk.” And that “there are lots of fun, crazy things that happen on beaches.” (And in fact, cast members have been seen having sex in the show’s backyard cabana.)
