Hilary Swank and Chad Lowe just tied up a major loose end of their breakup by finally selling their Charles Street townhouse. Just last week, New York reported that the four-story Italianate, for which they paid $3.9 million back in 2002, was still available despite lounging on the market for five months. An independent broker had been shopping it for $8.25 million back in June. Then, in August, Corcoran’s Robby Browne (who didn’t return a call) took over the listing, cutting the asking to $8.175 million and again to $7.55 million weeks ago. That seems to have been the magic number. The ex-couple spent 26 months redoing the interiors with designer Mark Zeff’s help, a makeover adoringly chronicled on the pages of the Times, where Swank described the house, and her relationship, as a “work in progress.” So much for that. But they still work: Swank is currently filming the romantic comedy P.S. I Love You in town. Lowe will guest-star in the upcoming season of 24.
