Guitar Hero III
Every Sunday in July, noon, at Bulletproof Comics and Games

2178 Nostrand Ave., nr. Ave. H, Flatbush, Brooklyn; 718-434-1800
Competitors here start out playing the same song (to be chosen that day), and the top half advance to the next round until just one player remains. All of the $10 entrance fees go into the prize pot, with the winner raking in 50 percent, second place getting 15 percent, and third and fourth places winning 5 percent each. (At a Bulletproof event in May, $1,250 in prize money was awarded.)

Crosswords DS
July 6, 1 p.m., at Nintendo World

10 Rockefeller Plz., at 48th St.; 646-459-0800
Thirty-two contestants are narrowed down to one as they go head-to-head on the hand-held DS system, putting their brains to use to solve word puzzles and win a Nintendo Wii. Unfortunately, the store’s six-foot-wide screen won’t be in use for the tournament, meaning spectators won’t have much to look at.

Wii Tennis
July 6, 1 p.m., at Village Pourhouse

64 Third Ave., at 11th St.; 212-979-2337
The costumes may not be as intense as those at Barcade’s Wiimbledon, but with the men’s finals at the All England Club taking place the same day, the timing is far more appropriate. The winner scores a $100 bar tab, and if tennis isn’t your game, a Wii Home Run Derby is planned for July 14—the same night as the real one in the Bronx.

Rock Band
July 30, 8 p.m., at Angels & Kings

500 E. 11th St., nr. Ave. A; 212-254-4090
It’s only fitting that a bar owned by Pete Wentz awards a weekly prize to the patron who rocks the hardest … or at least the most accurately. A $50 prize is doled out every Wednesday, leading up to the championships at the end of July, when the grand prize is bumped up to $200.
