3. Peter Frampton His 1976 Frampton Comes Alive was the top-selling live album ever; more recently, he’s played with David Bowie and Ringo Starr. (August 12, Borders Books & Music, Broadway.)
4. Jorma Kaukonen He co-founded Jefferson Airplane and its bluesy off-shoot Hot Tuna; now Tuna is part of Grateful Dead Records’ cadre of old-guys-with-guitars, and he plays solo, too. (August 8–9, the Bottom Line.)
5. The Toasters They all but invented ska, and their Moon Ska label still flourishes. Gwen Stefani and the Bosstones owe these guys a drink. (August 6, Knitting Factory.)
