Pumpkin and Pixie, by virtue of their names alone, have good reason to hold a joint sale. But they have others too – they are friends and they’re both talented young designers (Pumpkin makes maternity clothes in styles that one would want to wear even not pregnant, and Pixie designs hip garb that sells at places like Steven Alan in SoHo). Everything at the sample sale will be $20-$40. Pixie Yates showroom, 225 Lafayette St., Room 707 (431-3150); A.E., M.C., V.; Sat. 11-6; 2/14.

Painting Pillows
Verduno – a home-accessories company that usually sells only to the trade – uses fabrics created by artists and architects like Evan Polenghi and Richard Bloch for its stuff. As a result, some of its pillows look more like a Mondrian painting than something you should actually lean on. But they are, in fact, extremely comfortable. Silk pillows, retail $310, here $79-$150; silk throws, retail $630-$650, here $199-$250; silk duvets and comforters, retail $925-$1,145, here $199-$600.
