As we’ve said before, a man who knows how and where to buy a stylish pair of shoes is rare indeed. Luckily, To Boot New York’s warehouse sale provides the venue for purchasing shoes that work for the office but aren’t stuffy. Catch Some Zs
When we say that Zitomer is a New York institution, we mean the type of place that everyone in the neighborhood knows and loves. Its aisles are full of typical pharmacy goods as well as luxurious products for its Upper East Side clientele, but its atmosphere feels charmingly eccentric. At its August sale, items include: Diptyque candles, were $38, now $30.40; microfiber handbags, were $45-$125, now $22.50-$62.50. Also, all spring and summer hair accessories are 50 percent off. Zitomer, 969 Madison Ave., near 75th St.(737-5560); A.E., M.C., V.; Mon.-Fri. 9-8, Sat. till 7; Sun. 10-6; through 8/31.
Doing Wellness
Dr. Deansin Parker has long subscribed to the notion that the health of the mind and that of the body are inextricably linked. A psychotherapist herself, she says that she “kept waiting for someone to open up a center that incorporated body work with psychological health; when I didn’t find it, I opened one myself.” With summer drawing to an end, Parker and the center’s other practitioners recommend a cleansing program to make the transition between the seasons: for example, acupuncture, shiatsu and foot reflexology, and yoga and meditation, were $90 a session, now $67.50 each. Goodson Parker Wellness Center, 30 E. 76th St. Fourth floor (717-5273); A.E., M.C., V.; Mon.-Fri. 7 a.m.-8 p.m., Sat.-Sun. 9-5; 8/17-8/22.
Courting Business
You may not play like Pete Sampras or Martina Hingis, but that doesn’t mean you can’t look the part on the court. At Mason’s U.S. Open sale, all clothing items (except U.S. Open products) will be 50 percent off: Quantum skirt, was $57, now $28.50; le coq sportif men’s shirt, was $59, now $29.50; Ellesse warm-up suit, was $240, now $120. Chelsea Peers
Another end-of-summer event to plan for: The Chelsea Antiques Building is having its annual buildingwide sale. Stores will have (along with a carnival theme throughout the twelve floors) deals like: 25 percent off all merchandise, 40 percent off sterling silver, and special bargains for $25 to $50. Chelsea Antiques Building, 110 W. 25th St. (929-0909); A.E., M.C., V.; Mon.-Fri. 10-6, Sat.-Sun. 8:30-6; 8/28-9/7.
