Is there a new sheriff in town? On September 22, the upstart CSI: NY, the megahit franchise’s latest edition, squares off against Dick Wolf’s “Famous Original” Law & Order. Gary Sinise stars in the former; Dennis Farina replaces Jerry Orbach in the latter. Farina, a former cop, describes his character, Joe Fontana, as a history buff with a mysterious past and an “adaptable” style. Looks like he’ll have to adapt to a bit of competition.
