The magazine’s Nov. 30–Dec. 13 issue features a split cover run with three stars of the upcoming movie The Big Short — Christian Bale, Steve Carell, and Ryan Gosling — photographed by Amanda Demme. It also marks the debut of the Vulture Cover Story, a regular feature at our entertainment and culture site that will receive the level of editorial, design, product, and promotional attention given to print feature stories. In some instances (like this one), the Vulture Cover Story will also appear in print in similar form, though some will only appear online.
“The idea of the Vulture Cover Story is to focus readers’ attention on stories of greater ambition, the same way readers look to what’s on the cover of the print magazine to know what the big story is,” says editor-in-chief Adam Moss. “Like its print analogue, each such story will have a ‘cover,’ along with a more elaborate design, and represent a committed focus of our editorial resources. It will appear on the site all week, and get significant promotion on social media. In the weeks ahead we’ll also be launching cover stories on the Cut.”
Readers will find a wealth of complementary material in addition to the feature by Jessica Pressler, including interviews with Brad Pitt, Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, and Michael Lewis, whose book the movie is based on, as well as David Edelstein’s review.
