The Cut editorial director Stella Bugbee announced Wednesday that Rebecca Ramsey (@rebeccarams) has been named style director at the Cut and will coordinate fashion efforts both online and in the Cut section of New York Magazine. In this newly created role, Ramsey will style original photo shoots, attend international Fashion Weeks with Bugbee, and conceive new coverage, working with a team that includes senior market editor Diana Tsui and associate market editor Lindsay Peoples.
“I’m thrilled that Rebecca has accepted this new role at the Cut,” says Bugbee. “She is really smart, has incredible taste, and works seamlessly across digital, print, and social media. With our new Cut cover stories and fashion in every issue of New York, we have a bigger commitment than ever to covering the fashion landscape.”
Ramsey joined New York Magazine as fashion editor in 2012 and was promoted to senior fashion editor last year. She has produced distinguished work during this time, including shoots with artist Kehinde Wiley, choreographer Blanca Li, and rising women authors dressed as their favorite characters.
Prior to joining New York, she worked at W magazine for five years and on the design team at the Gap.
The Cut averaged 6.6 million monthly unique visitors in 2015, up 29 percent from the same period a year ago (Jan.–Nov. average, source: Adobe Analytics), and has 3.1 million social-media followers across Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and Instagram.
