The Cut editorial director Stella Bugbee announced today that Megan Greenwell (@megreenwell) is joining the site as features editor, a new position. She will assign and edit across a range of topics and formats, including the Cut’s new cover stories, weekly columnists, and daily features on sex, advice, culture, politics, parenting, and more. Greenwell begins her new position on January 19, working with Bugbee and New York Magazine executive editor Lauren Kern.
“Megan is an accomplished editor who brings a wealth of experience to the Cut,” says Bugbee. “As we continue to build into new coverage areas, Megan will help define and grow the site.”
From 2012 to 2015, Megan Greenwell was a senior editor at ESPN the Magazine, editing features about the intersection between sports and society. Previously, she was managing editor at GOOD magazine, and a reporter covering education, philanthropy, and the war in Iraq for the Washington Post. Her work has been nominated for a National Magazine Award and a GLAAD Media Award, and she was part of the Washington Post team that won the 2008 Pulitzer Prize for breaking-news reporting for coverage of the Virginia Tech shootings. A California native, she needs help finding decent burritos in New York.
