Louis C.K.
In photographing Louis C.K. for its TV issue, New York magazine took a slightly different approach than it normally does. “It’s unusual that we would do a straight portrait of a celebrity for a cover,” photography directory Jody Quon says. “The thought for Louis was all about palette control.” The visual aesthetic of the cover was inspired by photographer Nigel Parry’s series of white-on-white portraits. “Very ethereal but also very graphic,” Quon adds.
