Fritzie Andrade Joins New York Media As Director, Video

Ben Williams, digital editor at New York Media, announced today that Fritzie Andrade (@JournalistFritz)‏ has joined the company as director of video, leading the strategic direction of the company’s video programming, with a team of over ten producers.
Andrade will develop series for the company’s brands, including Vulture, the Cut, Daily Intelligencer, Select All, and Grub Street, with an eye toward both social-media distribution and on-site views. She begins her new role today.

Andrade joins the company from Gizmodo Media Group, where she was executive video director, developing video content for company websites, including Gizmodo, Jezebel, and Deadspin, as well as GMG television shows and series to run on the Fusion television network and for sale to streaming platforms. Prior to that she was editor-in-chief of travel at Vice Media, and worked as a video producer at the New York Times, producing and developing original video series, including the weekly 36 Hours travel series, which won a Webby in 2015.

“Our focus with video now is creating premium series for multiple platforms,” says Williams. “Fritzie’s creative talent and experience with developing video for different brands within a network makes her the ideal person to lead that evolution.”

New York Media won the 2017 National Magazine Award in video for the documentary Guns & Empathy, and Vulture and the Cut are among the publishers creating new shows to air on Facebook’s video platform Watch.
