Vulture editor Neil Janowitz announced today that Chris Lee (@__chrislee) is joining Vulture and New York Magazine as movies reporter, where he will be breaking news, monitoring the Hollywood landscape, and telling the stories behind movies and the people who make them. Lee will be joining Vulture’s movies department, which includes Hollywood editor Stacey Wilson Hunt, film critics David Edelstein and Emily Yoshida, senior editors Kyle Buchanan and Rachel Handler, and associate editors Jordan Crucchiola and Hunter Harris.
“We are thrilled to welcome Chris to Vulture,” says Janowitz. “Our already formidable movies department is further rounded out by his experience, industry savvy, and reporting instincts. He’s done great work for us as a freelancer and we can’t wait to see how he’ll contribute going forward.”
Lee has written for Vanity Fair, the New York Times, GQ, The Hollywood Reporter, Rolling Stone, Billboard, Fortune, Fast Company, The Guardian, Variety, and more. He was previously writer-at-large for Entertainment Weekly and has worked at the Los Angeles Times and Newsweek. He is based in Los Angeles and starts at Vulture on October 2. He got his masters from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
