Stella Bugbee, president and editor-in-chief of the Cut, announced today that Erica Smith (@ericaaaaaaa) has joined the site’s staff as beauty writer. Smith has been at the Cut since July, when she joined the site as a contributor, where she distinguished herself with her smart, funny writing. In her new role, she’ll be working alongside the Cut’s beauty director Kathleen Hou to increase beauty coverage, focusing on the latest trends, product recommendations, celebrity collaborations, and more.
Smith joins the Cut from Man Repeller, where she was managing editor in addition to covering pop culture and beauty. Prior to that she was a web producer for Vogue.com, and beauty editor at Birchbox. Her writing has also appeared on the Huffington Post and Total Beauty.
“The Cut continues to cover beauty from the perspective of how real women live and use beauty,” says Bugbee. “Erica brings a fresh voice to the Cut’s real-talk beauty coverage. She loves hair, celebrities, and celebrity hair as much as our growing readership. We’re so happy to have her join our team.”
