Today, Vulture editor Neil Janowitz announced two new hires, with Anusha Praturu joining the site as managing editor, and Alex Suskind as senior music editor. Praturu begins her role today, and Suskind follows in two weeks on February 14th.
“Vulture’s recent growth has outstripped our capacity for organization — we needed an adept juggler to come in and restore order. Anusha’s disposition, thoughtfulness, and experience made her an ideal choice for the job,” says Janowitz. “With Alex, it was a matter of finding the right person to take over a music department that consistently punches above its weight. Between his background and impressive ideas, I have no doubt that Alex will be able to build on Vulture music’s strong foundation in all sorts of exciting ways.”
Praturu becomes Vulture’s first managing editor, and in that role will oversee the site’s various operations and increase coordination with other departments in New York Magazine and Vox Media. She was previously senior manager of marketing analytics at Peacock TV, where she led a team that focused on growth strategy and business development. At Peacock, Praturu worked with both leadership and staff to help develop tools for enabling efficient engagement and retention among the platform’s userbase. She also furthered data democratization by creating dashboards to help employees meet the analytic needs of employees. Prior to Peacock, she held roles at NBCUniversal and Comcast.
Suskind joins Vulture as senior music editor, where he’ll edit the site’s music coverage, including features, news, and criticism. Suskind joins Vulture from Entertainment Weekly, where he was senior editor. At EW, Suskind worked across print and digital, editing news, reviews, interviews, features, and more, about the music business and the characters shaping the industry. His writing has appeared in outlets including the New York Times, Sports Illustrated, The Guardian, VICE, and Vanity Fair, among others. Suskind has also held roles at Instagram and HuffPost.
