Bruckner's Ninth Symphony

Fiona Talkington showcases the best performances from the UK and beyond, including Bruckner's 9th Symphony with Simon Rattle and the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra

Fiona Talkington showcases the best performances by BBC orchestras, choirs, ensembles and other great performing groups from Europe and around the globe.

This week on Classical Live, we have music inspired by artwork, including Debussy's La Mer performed by the Ulster Orchestra and conductor Carlos Kalmar. The centrepiece of today's programme is a performance of Bruckner's monumental Symphony No. 9 in D minor, performed by the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and conductor Sir Simon Rattle.

Fiona also has a spotlight on the Danish national baroque orchestra Concerto Copenhagen. Today, we hear them perform music by Andreas Kirchhoff, and there's another chance to catch this week's featured new composition in the Radio 3 series marking key historical events from the first twenty five years of the century.
