Ramrod-straight condo towers are so 2004. The aggressively sculptural buildings now coming on the market are much more interesting—but maybe not to everyone. These two apartments at West Chelsea’s 245 Tenth Avenue are nearly the same size, but apartment 7W is $155,000 more than 6W. (One floor’s difference doesn’t justify a nearly 5 percent bump.) The building’s glass-and-stainless façade, designed by architects at Della Valle Bernheimer, bows inward below the seventh floor, giving 6W peculiar curved walls that may bother very traditional buyers, explains the broker, Corcoran’s Debra LaChance. Oddly, 6W actually has a better view of the building’s best amenity: the High Line, barely ten feet away.
