Word is he’s found a buyer willing to pay more than $50 million for his Upper East Side townhouse, and Warner Music CEO and Seagram scion Edgar Bronfman Jr. has already found a new home: A source says he’s made a deal on a five-bedroom, five-bath at 1040 Fifth Avenue for approximately $20 million. The co-op, listed with Armin Allen of Edward Lee Cave, has living and dining rooms that face Central Park, a library, and a separate staff room. (Requests to Bronfman’s company for comment were not returned, but Cave’s online listing reads OFFER ACCEPTED.) Edgar’s brother Matthew won’t be outdone: He’s said to have signed a contract to buy socialite Anne Slater’s glamorous McKim, Mead & White–designed apartment—where Ingrid Bergman, Cary Grant, and Grace Kelly have all been guests—at 998 Fifth. (A New York photo shoot in 2006 revealed that the kitchen and bathroom are impeccable time capsules, with fixtures and stove dating to the teens.) Bronfman reportedly paid close to the asking price of $17.7 million for the “classic fourteen.”
