Tough player, meet tough market: Sean Avery is looking for a New York place to hang his skates. Avery—the most penalized player in the NHL last season, with more than four hours’ penalty-box time logged—was recently traded to the Rangers from the L.A. Kings and is said to be looking for a place downtown, most recently at the Onyx, the condominium tower on West 28th Street developed by Bronfman Haymes and offered by Core Group Marketing. Wherever Avery lands, fans can always hope he’ll feel the need to show off his space again—he once let cameras into his West Coast home for the MTV show Cribs.
Avery’s not the only NHLer who’s in the real-estate game lately. A source says Eric Lindros, the injury-plagued former Ranger (now with the Dallas Stars), is thinking about selling the Morton Square apartment he bought in the fall of 2004 for $2.495 million. Maybe Lindros and Avery can hammer out a deal themselves next time the Stars come to the Garden?
