Home Design 2002 - Keith McNally Home Photo Tour

"Having the kitchen and living room be one room — the room you first enter off the street — helps. It eases the apprehension you often feel when entering a house." The McNallys ripped out two sets of walls to create their open living room-kitchen. The beams exposed in the demolition were too ugly, so McNally bought these from a New Hampshire source. The mismatched chairs are from Cap Sud (218 Lafayette St.; 212-219-8508). The floors are old wide-board pine, bought in New England and installed and refinished by Norwegian Wood (942 Grand St., Williamsburg, Brooklyn; 718-218-8880).
