The weird kid fad of the day, you may have noticed, are these stretchable, tradeable, highly misplaceable silicone bracelets known as Silly Bandz. They come in a multitude of colors and shapes (cowboy hat, seahorse, the word rock, seen here), with new styles hitting stores every three weeks. At $5 per 24-pack, they are being snatched up with a voraciousness that has stunned manufacturer Robert Croak, who estimates he’s hiring two to three new employees per day to keep up with demand. Next up? Wackily shaped rubber bands big enough to stretch over your head and wear as necklaces. They arrive at Toys ’R’ Us (1514 Broadway, nr. 44th St.; 646-366-8800) the last week in June.
