Thomas Heatherwick, the designer behind the impressively huge, dandelion-like cauldron at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, scaled back a bit for his latest creation. The Spun chair ($599 at Herman Miller, 1177 Sixth Ave., nr. 45th St.; 212-753-3022), molded in plastic with a conical base, was inspired by a simple toy top. When tipped, the two-foot-tall seat acts as an ergonomically sound recliner: Just park your bottom in the dip and lean back to lounge, rock, or, when the mood strikes, spin around a full 360 degrees.
