Bridal Beauty Timeline
When it comes to looking good at your wedding-especially in the photos-the condition of your skin is just as important as your dress. So it makes sense to map out your skin-care routine as thoroughly as the rest of your wedding. "You should start planning your beauty regime as soon as you get engaged," says Gabrielle Ophals, owner of Haven spa in Soho. Well-timed spa treatments are the best way to buff up for the big day. . Electrolysis takes up to a year and a half to permanently remove unwanted hair, so start as early as possible. To avoid having red, irritated skin mar your photos, Ophals recommends getting your last treatment two weeks before the wedding. . Start deep-pore cleansing facials and resurfacing treatments like microdermabrasion and acid peels six months before the wedding. Don't forget back treatments-especially if your dress is strapless or backless. Repeat facials every three to six weeks, but get your last one no later than two weeks before the ceremony. . Two days before the wedding is the time for a non-extracting facial, exfoliating body treatments, waxing, and a spray-on or cream-applied tan. If you want a darker tan, get your first application seven days before the wedding and another two days before. . Relax the day before your wedding with a massage, manicure, and pedicure.
