Court Opens on Mulberry Street

When Nicole Tondre opened her first shop, Circa Now, in the East Village four years ago, she was basically unloading her own stash of vintage clothing. She had wanted to expand the inventory to include contemporary designers, but there wasn’t enough space. Now she has no excuse: Tondre’s second store, Court (178 Mulberry St., nr. Broome St.; 212-925-1022), just opened in Nolita with a full stable of designers whom shoppers may wish they’d known about sooner. Squeezed into the tiny storefront are Bijules rings that double as fake-gold nails ($175 to $185), country-chic sweaters for guys from Cloth Logic ($85), hard-to-find men’s Zig Zag shoes ($25 for a pair of washed-out canvas ones), and an extensive collection from Kova & T (cowl-neck tees are $58). She still feels the love for vintage, though, so a few pieces are mixed in, like a mid-seventies gold-and-black beaded necklace she picked up at an estate sale ($120).
