Baroque Revisited: Adès, Ravel and Respighi from the BBC Philharmonic

Random draw open

Step into a world of elegance, where echoes of Baroque music are reimagined by three composers of different eras in a live broadcast concert from the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra.

Adès’s Three Studies from Couperin breathes new life into three Baroque pieces, whilst maintaining the integrity of the original works. Imagine colourful orchestration, reworked rhythms and textures, all shaped by Adès unique voice.

Ravel’s Le Tombeau de Couperin, pays tribute to friends lost in World War I. Six movements based around a traditional Baroque suite blend elegance with deep feeling.

To end, Respighi’s Ancient Airs and Dances transform Renaissance lute tunes into a rich orchestral tapestry, infusing pieces composed during the 15th and 16th centuries with a sense of orchestral grandeur.
