The Orthopedic Sandals That Pass for Jil Sander Are on Sale Right Now

Earlier this summer, writer Molly Young turned us onto Hopp, a line of mules, oxfords, and sandals made in collaboration with SAS (the venerable orthopedic-shoe company based in San Antonio) and Eree Kim, a former Opening Ceremony designer. The result: supercomfortable shoes that are decidedly not super hideous. (In fact, they are very nice-looking.)

Young owns two pairs, a melon-hued mule and a three-strap patent sandal, and of these shoes she says: “They both weigh nothing and have arch support. The mule features a collar that prevents ankle-chafing, and it doesn’t make a ‘thwacking’ noise when I walk, unlike every other mule. The sandal could pass for Jil Sander. I wear them on four-mile walks without a problem.”

The reason we bring all of this up is because, right now, a selection of said three-strap sandals (in the olive that Young owns, in the brown shown above, as well as in black lizard, python, chartreuse, and in a limited-edition print designed by artist Pauline de Roussy de Sales) are on sale. Also on sale: the “essential oxford” style in coral and chartreuse. May you have a comfortable late-August and fall.
