It’s a train that just can’t be stopped — Rio Viera-Newton’s story about her multistep product routine has definitely struck a nerve. Once again, almost everything on the list has been a consistent best-seller, though one new beauty product did manage to slip into second place: The callus-eliminating gel that Alison Freer learned about (or, okay, snooped) from her pedicurist. In third place — up from fourth last time — is a very popular pair of cotton briefs from our best-women’s-underwear story, followed by our fourth-place entrant, the culty Drunk Elephant vitamin-C serum that’s still on sale until tomorrow (it’s also something Viera-Newton swears by). The fifth-place finisher? An expensive-looking Uniqlo slip dress that — surprise of surprises — is still on sale for just $20.
1. The Google Doc I Send to People Who Ask About My Skin
Once again, Rio Viera-Newton’s list of 16 products — which, up until recently, existed only as a Google doc that was passed around to friends — is smashing the competition. Again, the technically best-selling product has been the Cosrx Pimple Patches, but people are buying the products as nearly complete sets: everything from the Cosrx Bha Blackhead Power Liquid and Neogen Green Tea Cleanser to the Snail Bee High Content Sheet Mask Pack and Klairs Vitamin C Serum (and that’s only a sample of everything on the list). Viera-Newton’s friends all noticed a difference: “People started to notice how different I looked and asked what I was using. Tired of responding to texts about moisturizers and serums, I outlined my skin-care favorites in a Google doc and shared it with a few curious friends.”
2. I Stole My Pedicurist’s Secret to Smooth, Supple Feet
Though we’ve detailed before the many different ways to smooth your soles (from Baby Foot to a Tweezerman shaver), Alison Freer discovered the secret the pros use: She found out what her pedicurist was using to get rid of calluses and went online to buy it herself. The result? “It was one of the smartest things I’ve done in forever, because I’m now the owner of two soft, smooth, very uncallused feet. (And it took very little effort on my part.)”
3. What Is the Best Women’s Underwear?
If you’ve been on the hunt for some better skivvies, know that there are some great options out there. In addition to uncovering the favorites of celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Carmelo Anthony, we spoke to a bunch of stylish women to find out what the best women’s underwear is. The best-selling pair has been the Natori Bliss Cotton Girl Briefs. Dolly Frearson looks only for pairs of underwear that “feel comfortable and breathable. I also need them to appear smooth, and not pinch my skin in any place or ride up. And this is the only pair that does all of the above. 4. Rarely-on-Sale Drunk Elephant Beauty Products Are on Sale Right Now
If you know anything about Drunk Elephant, you know that the widely beloved natural(ish) and effective line of skin-care products has a huge following of diehard fans. This week, much of it was on sale, and you guys responded (it helps that this C-Firma Day Serum has been touted near and far, including within the Google doc story). Viera-Newton says “it’s one of the best vitamin-C serums I’ve ever used, and I’ve used a lot. In case vitamin C isn’t already part of your skin regime, it should be — it’s incredible for brightening and making your skin look clean and radiant. It’s best used in the morning.”
5. Deal of the Day: A $20 Slip Dress From Uniqlo
We figured you guys would love a bonkers deal. This elegant dress is pretty much the definition of transition dressing — and it’s just $20 still. Like we said, “wear it on a sweltering Sunday in late-August, or layer it with a white T-shirt (like the model above), and you’ve got yourself a nice back-to-school or office look, especially given its rusty, autumnal hue. (It’s also available, but in fewer sizes, in black.)”
