All the Best Fall Mattress Deals

Photo: Leesa

While there are lots of great deals to shop this fall, mattress sales are always high on our list. Lots of Strategist-approved brands are offering some major discounts — and not just on mattresses but on bedding accessories like pillows and mattress covers, too. While shopping these sales, we suggest checking out our list of the best mattresses (all of which have been tested by the Strategist team) to see which brands are best for you.

To make comparing deals a little easier, all prices below are for queen-size mattresses (but every discount is of course available on other sizes, too). And with more retailers starting to launch their own fall mattress deals this week — like the ones for Prime Day (which runs from October 13 to 14) and Walmart’s Big Save Event (which runs through October 15) — we’ve reorganized this post to lead with bigger-box retailers’ various deals, which are followed by sales at specific companies and brands.

Amazon

Unsurprisingly, Amazon is offering discounts on plenty of mattresses during Prime Day, including on name brands like Casper and Tuft & Needle. Since there are a lot of deals rolling out at different times over the two-day event, we’ll be updating this post with the Strategist-approved mattresses worth buying when we see them available. (If you’re looking for bed frames or other bedroom décor, head here.)

Walmart

For its Big Save Event, Walmart slashed prices on a handful of brands we’ve written about before, including Strategist favorites like Sealy and Lucid. Whether you’re looking for firm memory foam or an innerspring mattress that’s a little softer, there are options aplenty. And if you’re buying anything, now may be a good time to consider signing up for Walmart+, the retailer’s new membership program that, for roughly $13/month, gets you unlimited free deliveries, discounts on gas, and more perks.

Allswell

Allswell is offering 15 percent off its Luxe and Supreme mattresses with the code FALLFAVES. Former Strategist editor Margaret Rhodes calls the Luxe “a stellar firm mattress: You’re being good to your spine, but the feel is still comfortable.” The Supreme is also firm, but two-inches thicker, thanks to its Euro-style top and additional layer of temperature-regulating foam. Using the same code, you can also get 30 percent off bedding accessories from Allswell’s Fall Favorites collection, which includes patterned throw blankets, the brand’s percale duvet set, and plenty of decorative pillows.

Aviya

Aviya Mattress - Queen
$1,049

With code STRAT200, you get $200 off the Aviya Mattress, which former Strategist writer Lori Keong calls “plush yet delightfully bouncy,” due to the innerspring-and-foam construction. “I’d even go so far as to say that sleeping on this changed my perception of what soft-but-supportive means,” she adds.

Avocado

Avocado Green Mattress - Queen
$1,699
$1,699

Avocado, which uses organic and recycled materials to make what we’ve dubbed the best ecoconscious mattress, is giving customers $175 off its mattresses with the code STRATAVO. It’s also offering $150 off when you buy a bed frame and mattress with the code STRATBED, as well as two pillows free with a mattress purchase when you use the code STRATPILLOW. (These codes are stackable, so you can use all three if you want to.) Plus, the brand is offering an additional $50 discount to verified nurses, doctors, emergency medical technicians, firefighters, law enforcement, military personnel, and educators. To apply for this, Avocado says to “please request the service discount via our chat functionality, where you can upload a picture of your professional ID for verification. Or you can email us your order number and the proper credentials; once approved we will apply a credit to your order.”

Bear

With the exclusive code STRAT20, Strategist readers will get 20 percent off any of Bear’s three mattresses. Strategist senior writer Karen Iorio Adelson says the ten-inch-thick, all-foam Bear Mattress above is a great pick for athletes. For even more support, you could try the Bear Pro mattress, which is also all-foam but 12 inches thick. According to Strategist contributor Steven John, the brand’s top-of-the-line Bear Hybrid — a foam-and-spring mattress — makes him “fall asleep faster than I have on just about any other mattress I’ve ever tried.” Bear is also throwing in two of its down-alternative Cloud pillows for free with every mattress purchase.

Birch by Helix

Using the code STRAT200, Birch is offering $200 off any of its mattresses, which are made with temperature-regulating wool sourced from New Zealand farms, Rainforest Alliance–certified Talalay latex, and American-manufactured steel. “What impressed me most about the Birch is how supportive yet plush it is — a dream for a stomach sleeper like me, who tosses and turns throughout the night,” says Strategist managing editor Maxine Builder. “The wool cushioning cradles every curve of my body, no matter how I’m positioned, yet I never feel like I’m being pulled under, thanks to the firm support of the steel coils.”

Casper

Casper sells several (Strategist-vetted) mattresses, which are all 15 percent off through October 14. Several members of our staff have tested the brand’s all-foam original mattress, and all say it’s great for just about everyone (except hot sleepers). We’ve called the luxurious Wave Hybrid mattress “a souped-up, premium version of the original Casper,” thanks to its contoured foam and dome-shaped gel pods, which are designed to provide targeted ergonomic support. Casper’s latest offering, the Nova Hybrid mattress, swaps those gel pods for a layer of so-called puff fabric for a softer feel; we slept on it and found it to be a truly “plush mattress that still delivers a decent amount of support.” In addition to 15 percent off its mattresses, Casper is giving customers 10 percent off everything else, including pillows, bed frames, and bedding.

Cocoon by Sealy

Sealy’s mattress-in-a-box is 35 percent off using the code STRAT35. The all-foam mattress comes in medium-soft or extra-firm. The firm option is especially good for anyone experiencing back pain, according to former Strategist senior editor Simone Kitchens, who found that sleeping on it banished her “usual roll-out-of-bed lower-back creakiness.”

Eight Sleep

For those who want their mattress to do more than provide 40 winks, the so-called smart bed from Eight Sleep can perform a daily health check, automatically adjust the mattress’s temperature according to the climate, and wake you up using gentle vibrations. Right now, the brand is offering an automatic $100 discount — but using the code AFF150 will get you an extra $150 off for a total of $250 in savings. What’s more, if you’re purchasing a mattress, Eight Sleep will automatically give you 20 percent off of any accessories (like its eucalyptus sheets, gravity blankets, or mattress protectors) that you add to your cart.

Helix

Helix sells nine different hybrid (or foam-and-spring) mattress options and a sleep quiz that helps determine the right one for you. (We haven’t slept on the Moonlight, but the brand describes it as a softer model.) It’s offering a three-tiered deal: When you spend $600 or more on any purchase, you can get $100 off with the code STRAT100; when you spend $1,250 or more, you can get $150 off with the code STRAT150; and when you spend $1,750 or more, you can get $200 off with the code STRAT200. And should you purchase something using any of the codes, the brand will throw in two microfiber Dream pillows for free.

Layla Sleep

Layla is offering $150 off any mattress purchase and $200 off any hybrid-mattress purchase with no codes required — and it’ll throw in two free memory-foam pillows with any mattress order. The brand is also taking $30 off its weighted blankets and bamboo sheets in any size. Strategist readers can get an additional $10 off their purchase with the code STRATEGIST.

Leesa

$999

Over at Leesa, you can get $150 off the brand’s Original mattress, a ten-inch-thick, all-foam model that Builder says “offers excellent pressure relief” and “should suit all kinds of sleepers.” You can also get $150 off its new, more affordable Studio by Leesa mattress (also all-foam, but seven inches thick); $250 off the Leesa Hybrid (foam with one layer of springs); and $350 off the Leesa Legend (foam with two layers of springs).

Molecule

With code STRAT30, the all-foam Molecule 1 mattress is 30 percent off (the cheapest it’s ever been); while the Molecule 2 Airtec Mattress, which features more temperature-regulating foam, is 15 percent off. Molecule is also throwing in a free pillow (a $79 value) for free with any mattress purchase.

Nest Bedding

Nest Bedding is taking 15 percent off all of its mattresses, including this flippable memory-foam model (one side is firm; the other, medium). Everything else on its site — including pet beds, bed frames, sheet sets, cooling toppers, comforters, and even nightstands — is 10 percent off, too.

Plushbeds

Now through October 12, PlushBeds is offering $1,100 off its all-natural latex mattresses and giving customers a free sheet set with mattress purchase. Or you can take 20 percent off mattress toppers, pillows, and bedding. Plus, when you use the code STRAT20, you will get an additional $100 off.

Saatva

$1,699

As part of its “OktoberRest Sale,” Saatva — which makes our best all-around mattress for those “in need of back support” — is giving customers $200 off when they spend $1,000 or more.

Serta

Serta’s range of iComfort mattresses are designed to keep sweaty sleepers cool. There are five versions; all promise cooling abilities and are on sale, but the more you spend, the more souped-up the mattress will be. Four of the iComfort mattresses — including this entry-level, limited-edition model — are $200 off, with the priciest option on sale for $400 off (in addition to superior cooling abilities, the top-of-the-line iComfort mattress promises the best pressure relief).

Tempur-Pedic

Using the code STRAT30, Strategist readers will receive 30 percent off the Tempur-Pedic Cloud mattress, a medium-soft, all-foam style. Alternatively, with no code required, you can get the pricier TEMPUR-Breeze mattress (which the brand says is ideal for hot sleepers) for $300 off; with the discount, its price drops to around $3,699. If you don’t run hot, the brand’s slightly cheaper LuxeAdapt mattress is also on sale for $300 off (it comes to around $3,399).

Tuft & Needle

Everything from mattresses to linen duvets is on sale for 10 percent off during Tuft & Needle’s fall sale. Strategist writer (and back-sleeper) Lauren Ro says its Original Mattress made her feel both “supported and cocooned at the same time.”

WinkBeds

WinkBed Mattress - Queen
$1,499

The code STRAT300 will get you $300 off any of WinkBeds mattresses, including the foam-and-spring WinkBed Mattress, which comes in four firmness levels. Strategist senior editor Katy Schneider found that the “luxury-firm” version of the mattress is supportive enough to reduce back pain and minimize the feeling of any movement, if you sleep with someone who tends to toss and turn. (In terms of firmness levels, luxury firm falls between “soft” and “firmer.”) While we haven’t slept on them, the brand’s all-foam GravityLux Mattress and latex EcoCloud mattress are also eligible for the discount.

Yogabed by Yogasleep

While Yogasleep does not have a dedicated sale running this fall, it is offering Strategist readers an exclusive $100 discount on its mattresses with the code STRAT100.

The Strategist is designed to surface the most useful, expert recommendations for things to buy across the vast e-commerce landscape. Some of our latest conquests include the best acne treatments, rolling luggage, pillows for side sleepers, natural anxiety remedies, and bath towels. We update links when possible, but note that deals can expire and all prices are subject to change.
