In case you missed our earlier don’t dillydally bulletin and didn’t set an alarm for the occasion, you’d better hop to, as the newest edition of Target’s Fall Designer Collection has officially dropped. This time around, the big-box retailer has partnered with Sergio Hudson, Kika Vargas, and La Ligne. It’s the latest in Target’s decades-long history of collaborating with luxury labels — last year, the likes of Rachel Comey and Sandy Liang created originals that a number of Strategist staffers eagerly snapped up.
Here’s your primer on this year’s collaborators: Hudson has dressed Michelle Obama and Beyoncé (“strong shoulders” is a theme of his Target collection); Vargas makes very voluminous silhouettes (see this ruffled fuchsia confection); and La Ligne is famous for its signature stripes. The full line includes more than 100 pieces from the three — including apparel and accessories — with clothes available in sizes XS to 4X and prices ranging from $8 to $70. Since there’s so much to sort through, we’ve highlighted 17 of our very favorite items, below. A classic trench gets an update from the Bogotá-born designer with a scalloped trim at the collar and button placket and puffy-but-not-too-puffy sleeves.
