In case you missed our earlier don’t dillydally bulletin and didn’t set an alarm for the occasion, you’d better hop to, as the newest edition of Target’s Fall Designer Collection has officially dropped. This time around, the big-box retailer has partnered with Sergio Hudson, Kika Vargas, and La Ligne. It’s the latest in Target’s decades-long history of collaborating with luxury labels — last year, the likes of Rachel Comey and Sandy Liang created originals that a number of Strategist staffers eagerly snapped up.
Here’s your primer on this year’s collaborators: Hudson has dressed Michelle Obama and Beyoncé (“strong shoulders” is a theme of his Target collection); Vargas makes very voluminous silhouettes (see this ruffled fuchsia confection); and La Ligne is famous for its signature stripes. The full line includes more than 100 pieces from the three — including apparel and accessories — with clothes available in sizes XS to 4X and prices ranging from $8 to $70. Since there’s so much to sort through, we’ve highlighted 17 of our very favorite items, below. But we can’t guarantee they’ll still be in stock as you scroll through the list, so when we say don’t dillydally, we really mean it.
A classic trench gets an update from the Bogotá-born designer with a scalloped trim at the collar and button placket and puffy-but-not-too-puffy sleeves.
This coat is (tied for) the most expensive piece in the entire collection — but the sharp-looking tailoring makes it look even more luxurious.
Or go for more glamour with the Los Angeles–based line’s faux fur coat patterned with large-scale, black-and-white houndstooth.
There’s something kindercore-esque about this textured cardigan’s green, yellow, and red threads, which also resemble ropes.
This charming cable-knit crewneck features vertical stripes of contrasting whipstitch, a technique favored by sewers for finishing hems and cuffs.
Pair it with the matching pants for a sleek mock tracksuit (reminiscent of Tony Soprano’s trademark look).
You have two options with this sweater: Show a hint of skin by tying the bows in the back or turn it all around for a sweet-but-not-saccharine cardigan.
The tiers on this ruffle-edged dress are just begging to be twirled in.
Shocking pink makes this slightly reserved ensemble — complete with a high neck and balloon sleeves — pop.
If you’ve been looking for a non-basic bodysuit, consider this off-the-shoulder banana-yellow one. Get the coordinating mustard pants for a monochromatic look.
Festive, fun, and featuring a fitted, ribbed shape that would work as a non-heavy layer.
This take on a classic white shirt has a number of statement-making details, including a scallop-shaped edge, billowy sleeves, and wrap front with a tie. It comes in colorful coral reef and anemone prints too.
If you can never have too many scalloped edges, top the blouse off with this frilly Puritan–meets–Peter Pan collar. The piece could also dress up an otherwise simple sweater you already have in your closet.
With the right blazer, these sporty pull-ons could also do well as work pants.
There’s some trompe l’oeil going on here: These wide-leg, cropped trousers aren’t actually jeans. And the pockets have the same pretty scallop detail seen on other pieces in the collection.
This jumpsuit — with its duo of cutouts — is perfect for a night out dancing, a spontaneous Vegas wedding, or just dinner and drinks.
