13 Things on Sale You’ll Actually Want to Buy: From Paravel to Patagonia

Halloween is not really a shopping holiday, but the brands are coming up with quite a lot of treats today. Shopbop is having a four-day sale with discounts up to 40 percent, and I found lots of little things under $30 that would make truly excellent gifts. The sales at Amazon have been surprisingly, reliably good, and Everlane’s Fall Edit Event is going strong, with lots of sizes and colors still available, even in its most popular styles.

This isn’t the sexiest deal to kick off this roundup — unless your definition of “sexy” includes a supremely easy-to-clean (and surprisingly sleek looking) humidifier.

I was influenced to buy an on-sale Oral-B electric toothbrush a while ago, and it’s done great things for my gum health, according to my dentist. But I’m tempted to pick up this one because of the slim travel case.

Bubble Bath is a classic pale pink polish that, according to our colleagues over at the Cut, stays intact for days at a time. “Just two thin layers will give your nails a nice natural sheen without bubbles or cracks,” writes Cleo von Siebenthal.

Shark Hair Blow Dryer - Stone
$180
$180

This is the cheapest I’ve ever seen the Shark hair dryer (which we’ve heard is a good dupe for the Dyson Supersonic).

These dish towels from La DoubleJ would be the ideal host gift for a hard-to-impress mother-in-law.

I love these L’or de Seraphine candles. They’re a similar price to what you’d find at Boy Smells or Otherland, but the ceramic jars just look a lot more expensive and feel very giftable.

Given all of the Barbie costumes I saw this weekend, I don’t think our collective cultural obsession with bubblegum pink is going away anytime soon — so you might as well lean into it with this cute little heart-shaped hair clip.

This is about as cheap as I’ve seen this Paravel belt bag. (I first learned about it from Sarah Hoover, who used it as a minimalist diaper bag — but it’s also a nice little fanny pack for frequent travelers to throw in their carry-on just in case.)

If you’re feeling burnt out on Gazelles and Sambas, might I recommend some Tretorns?

I like the little kangaroo pocket and mauve detailing on this otherwise quite neutral Patagonia fleece.

There are lots of wooden toys from Teamson Kids on sale at Maisonette, but I’m particularly charmed by this under-$20 set of fruits and vegetables complete with a French market bag.

Our best pull-on work pants for women (that writer Ambar Pardilla says don’t wrinkle and don’t really feel like “work pants”) are just $66.

It’s still a bit splurge-y while on sale, but think of this as a “dressy” hoodie since it’s made of merino, not cotton. (It would also be a great gift for a man who’s still wearing his fraternity sweatshirt and could do with an upgrade.)

The Strategist is designed to surface the most useful, expert recommendations for things to buy across the vast e-commerce landscape. Some of our latest conquests include the best acne treatments, rolling luggage, pillows for side sleepers, natural anxiety remedies, and bath towels. We update links when possible, but note that deals can expire and all prices are subject to change.
