This Patagonia Puffy Jacket Is Perfect for Winter Layering, and It’s 40 Percent Off

As a writer covering outdoor gear for the past six years, I test a lot of puffy jackets. Some days, like when I’m belaying my climbing partner while huddled on the side of a cliff in Colorado, I prefer the biggest, warmest puffer I have in my closet — the equivalent of being wrapped in a down comforter. But those occasions are rare. On most other days spent outside and around town, I opt for a lighter, more versatile jacket that could keep me warm while moving, but also function as a mid-layer between my base layer and a shell. That’s when I reach for my Patagonia Nano Puff, which is currently up to 40 percent off in both men’s and women’s sizing.

The Nano Puff is filled with PrimaLoft Gold insulation, which is different from down, which you’d find in gear like sleeping bags or other puffy parkas. That means it stays slightly more insulated when it gets wet compared to traditional down feathers. I’ve been caught in some storms while hiking in my Nano Puff, and I didn’t notice a difference in its insulating power when drenched. It’s a great piece that I find myself using all the time, especially in shoulder season and in the winter.
