Everybody should own denim shorts, but finding a pair that fits properly tends to be something of a lifelong quest. At least that’s how former Strategist writer Latifah Miles felt until she made a rather surprising discovery in an Abercrombie & Fitch changing room two summers ago. It turns out that the former high-school mall brand has pivoted to designing elegant (and size-inclusive) staples, including these high-rise “Dad shorts,” which are particularly flattering on tall curvy bodies. Usually $65, they’re currently discounted by 25 percent right now, bringing the price down to $49.
As Miles writes in her review, the high-waisted cut of these shorts fits snuggly over the belly button, and the length is “moderate but not frumpy, falling just shy of fingertip length.” She says it is easy to get the shorts on over her hips and thighs, and the leg openings are neither too baggy nor too tight. With just a sprinkle of stretch, the denim “has a rigid feel, and the fly lies nice and flat.” And just imagine all of the time you’ll save now that your lifelong quest is over.
