Here at the Strategist, we like to think of ourselves as crazy (in the good way) about the stuff we buy, but as much as we’d like to, we can’t try everything. Which is why we have People’s Choice, in which we find the best-reviewed products and single out the most convincing ones. (You can learn more about our rating system and how we pick each item here.)

And while we’ve written about lots of camping equipment before — including camping lanterns, camping hammocks, and camping stoves — here, we’ve rounded up the best cabin tents, as praised by the most enthusiastic reviewers on Amazon.

Best-rated cabin tent

Reviewers love how quickly this tent can be set up. “It went up in under 90 seconds by myself. The poles are attached already and you simply take it out of the box and pull up,” says one person, who calls this “the perfect camping tent.” Just as important, “it went back in the bag with zero effort and profanity,” he says. Another reviewer appreciates how roomy it is. “We use two queen blow up mattresses and still have plenty of room for everyone’s bags and clothes in the tent,” he writes. He set his up in “about two minutes.” This tent is tough, too. Many reviewers mentioned the unpredictable weather their tents had withstood, including high winds, rain, and snow. “It held up to 15-30 mph gusts” in Joshua Tree, says a reviewer, who thinks this cabin tent is “perfect for glamping.” He says, “Setup took less than 5-10 minutes even with installing the rain fly, and all of the guy wires with stakes.”

Best-rated (less expensive) cabin tent

One reviewer bought this for the “Bataan Memorial Death March at White Sands Missile Range, NM.” He calls this a “badass tent” because it survived “50 mph winds and rain.” The tents next to him were “trashed” and “instantly blown down,” but his stayed strong. Non-Death-Marching reviewers had similar experiences. According to one, “You won’t find a better tent for the price.” Not only does it hold up in the elements, but this one is more spacious, he says. “We fit two cots inside with plenty of room for my six-foot-plus boys to change clothes. The head space makes this one so much better.” Reviewers also appreciate the construction of the tent. “It all comes in one piece, so there’s no assembly required. You just unfold the tent and pull the four posts taut until they click. That’s it,” says one reviewer. Another says even with a “queen sized air mattress,” he still had “so much room” to walk around.

And now for some micro-picks for every type of cabin tent you might be looking for.

Best cabin tent with a built-in closet

One reviewer originally “thought [the closet] was hilarious” and completely unnecessary, but it turned out to be “handy for stashing duffels/personal items and a dirty clothing bag.” Another agreed, noting that it “makes things feel less cluttered.” It’s also a very spacious tent, she says. “We had a queen air mattress inside and definitely could have set up one or two more comfortably. We only camped once so far for a weekend but I am now excited to go on longer trips because of how relaxed I feel in this big tent.” Lots more reviewers point out how well this tent can withstand a storm. “The first time we took this tent out it stormed. Not just rained, but 60+ mph winds, lightening, thunder, hail, the whole package,” says one reviewer. “We didn’t get a single drop inside our tent. The 11 people we were with all ended up in our tent. Why? Because it is strong and dry that’s why.”

Best cabin tent with light

“The light switch is a nice ‘glamping’ touch,” says one reviewer, who “bought an outdoor rug off of Amazon to make it a little more cozy.” And she isn’t alone in loving the light. One reviewer appreciates that “you can literally flip a switch and the lights are on in the tent,” which, she says, beats having to fumble around in the dark for a lantern. The tent even features electrical outlets. That “is really helpful to use a blow dryer or charge electronics,” she says. Reviewers also appreciate the tent’s space. One calls this tent “huge,” with “plenty of space for more people even with 2 queens air mattresses.” It’s easy to set up, too. “Took us 30 minutes with a practice run,” she says. “All the pieces are color coded from pole … so it’s easy to follow directions. Quality is nice, very spacious and lots of ventilation.”

Best cabin tent with room divider

The room divider on this tent appealed to customers who camp with their families. One reviewer who has used this for seven different camping trips, says she “hit the jackpot” with this tent. The “zip up room divider” became her favorite feature when camping with multiple people. “If you’re sharing the tent or need privacy while changing your clothes, it’s great,” she says. She also notes that there’s plenty of space with or without the divider up. “My Husband is 6’3” and has no problem standing and walking anywhere in this tent. It’s easy to put up and fits into the storage bag much easier than others I have owned.” Another mom likes this tent for camping with young children. “If kids are still asleep, you don’t have to worry about waking them stepping over and out of the tent.” Another parent could even easily fit her son’s “pack-n-play and all of his accessories” with room to spare. “The other room fits a queen air mattress, cooler and luggage. We are a family of 3 and usually go camping with my sister’s family of 4. There is plenty of room for all of the kids to play in the tent,” she says.

Best cabin tent with a real door

Most tents just have a zip-around flap for a door, but this one from Tenaya actually features a structured door. “The door is one of the best features,” says one reviewer. “Poles go through the seam of the door and all the way around the zipper part, creating a rigid door rather than the traditional flap. It made getting in and out a breeze.” Another calls the door “genius” because it makes camping with kids so much easier since they can maneuver the door on their own without an adult’s help. He also notes that the tent is “very roomy. We fit three cots and still have a ton of room to spare.” A third reviewer likes that “you can stand up in it. Laugh at all the other dome tents that require crawling into, that you might be able to awkwardly stand in the middle.” Another perk of the door, he says, is that it “kept bugs out” better than other tents. He warns that “it won’t keep tiny crawly bugs out,” but it definitely does a good job keeping flying bugs out.”
