A Casper Mattress for Under $700

If you need a new mattress but didn’t buy one during the Memorial Day weekend sales bonanza, it’s not too late. A few discounts are still lingering, and I found the Casper Original mattress on sale at Wayfair for $650 — 50 percent off the listing price for a queen size. If you’ve been wanting to try this mattress, now is the moment: It’s long been one of our favorite all-foam mattresses, but it has been discontinued and replaced with a new model called the Casper One. The only remaining places to buy the Original are third-party retailers. Amazon and Bed Bath & Beyond also have deals on this bed right now, but Wayfair’s is the cheapest price I could find.

When I tried it, I thought the Casper Original had a nice mix of comfort and support — it allowed for some cushioning, but I didn’t sink in too deeply. It offers zoned support, which basically means the mattress is softer in some areas and firmer in others to ensure you’re getting more cushioning where you need it, like around your shoulders, and extra support where you need it, like under your lower back. The Casper One, the Original’s replacement in the new product lineup, doesn’t have this feature (though there are other new, more expensive Casper models that do). Wayfair has all sizes in stock, but only the queen, king, and California king are 50 percent off; other sizes are only 30 percent off.

The Strategist is designed to surface the most useful, expert recommendations for things to buy across the vast e-commerce landscape. Some of our latest conquests include the best acne treatments, rolling luggage, pillows for side sleepers, natural anxiety remedies, and bath towels. We update links when possible, but note that deals can expire and all prices are subject to change.
