What Kimiko Glenn Can’t Live Without

If you’re like us, you’ve probably wondered what famous people add to their carts. Not the JAR brooch and Louis XV chair but the hair spray and the electric toothbrush. We asked actress Kimiko Glenn — who voices a character in the show Kiff, which airs on Disney Channel and Disney XD on Saturdays and is streaming on Disney+ — about her plumping lip shimmer, must-have snacks, and heat packs she can’t live without.

I have two pets: my dog Arnold and my cat Toby. They are my everything. I adopted Arnold about eight years ago, and he’s the love of my life. Last August, I found Toby, this scruffy little kitten, in the middle of the street and fell in love with him, too. I recently got this cat jungle gym because it helps save space and is aesthetically pleasing. It’s these customizable hexagonal shelves that are like rooms he can go through. Toby has a feeder shelf, a little house shelf with pillows in it. I think all cat lovers should have one.

My needs are very basic. I’ve always been addicted to ChapStick, but in the past few years, I started using this Burt’s Bees Shimmer. I use the shade watermelon in the winter and peony in the summer. It keeps my lips moisturized, but it also makes them look really plump. Nothing else has been able to do that. I actually stockpile these because I’m really concerned they’re going to go out of stock.

This is the skin-care MVP of my life. I actually use two different ones: P50 PIGM 400 in the morning because it’s a little calmer and P50 1970 at night. There are only so many things I think are must-haves, and this is one of them. It’s an exfoliant that provides so much hydration. The first time I used it, my skin was like glass afterwards, and I was hooked immediately. Now, everyone comments on my skin and asks me about my routine. I can’t plug it any harder. If there’s one thing you splurge on, it’s this.

For whatever reason, my hair got so damaged from living in New York. So now, I’m hypersensitive to making sure I don’t have hair breakage. I was recently sent these with a silk pillowcase and scrunchies, and now, they’re all I use. I can put my hair up without worrying about breakage.

I’m constantly cold. I’m one of those people whose hands are freezing at any given moment. So once again, I always travel with my heat packs. I’m constantly surrounded by them. Instead of those heavy weighted blankets, heat packs are my safe space. I have several different kinds. There’s one that’s electric, so it’s good for hotel rooms. But I use this microwavable one every night. I feel so vulnerable telling you this, but I use it to help me sleep. I don’t have to worry about it because the heat dissipates within like an hour. It’s not heating me up all night.

I have to have coffee. I used to live around the corner from Stumptown in New York, and it was always my little treat to myself. I don’t live there anymore, but I keep buying their coffee because they just have a superior bean. I often buy each blend and switch it up for my taste buds, just to keep things interesting.

It’s so, so embarrassing to admit this, but basically everywhere I go, anytime I travel, I make sure I have a bag of Lay’s potato chips in my bag. If I don’t, I buy it immediately at like, the gift shop or the Hudson News or whatever’s closest. This is not a lie. It’s like a midnight-snack or midday-snack sort of thing. I know people like the different flavors, but I really like just the purity of the classic Lay’s. It’s just the perfect texture, the same thinness every time. It’s consistent.

This is like how I have to have Lay’s, but not as intense. I pretty much always have Hershey’s Kisses in my house. I had some last night. It’s like my midnight snack. I like having a handful after dinner. I think it’s the nostalgia that makes me love the flavor so much. Like, I remember eating mac and cheese that wasn’t Kraft for the first time, and it was so weird tasting. That’s how I feel with Hershey’s Kisses and other chocolates. Hershey’s is so specific, and I love it.

I’m a huge podcast junkie. My dad introduced me to this app, and I just prefer it over others. I like the layout, and it’s easy to use. I have like four different news podcasts I listen to every morning, a lot of true crime, but I love the Moth Radio Hour because I’m never not in the mood for it. It’s live recordings of people storytelling onstage without notes. It ranges from hilarious and ridiculous to some of the most influential, moving moments in people’s lives. It’s just an exploration of humanity, and I think as an actor, learning about people has always fascinated me.
