Strangers Ask Me to Take These Clogs Off My Feet to Try On

I remember my grandmother wore lots of clogs. She had quite a few neutral-hued pairs, with a couple of fun colors. My mom used to wear clogs all the time, too, and I thought she always looked so chic in hers. But I honestly hadn’t worn many clogs myself, until I found the SeaVees.

I wear them almost every day at this point. I wear them when it shines. I wear them when it rains. They’re actually a great alternative to a rain boot because they’re a little slimmer, and they don’t have the heaviness of a rain boot. I was worried with a clog that my feet would get wet, but since there’s a back on them, you don’t get anything on your foot. They’re especially useful when you might not need a rain boot, but there’s a little bit of mud on the ground. They’re really an answer to any type of muddy, rainy terrain. You just shouldn’t jump in a puddle with them.

They’re also very comfortable. I had one pair of clogs before that I never wore because I couldn’t comfortably stand in them for very long. These are different. Your feet sit in the shoes, and you can do miles in them. They’re a perfect shoe to just throw on if you’re out doing things: running to Pilates, going to the grocery store, picking up something at the pharmacy. I throw them on to go to yoga. I throw them on to work in the yard. They’re coming with me to work.

I think that an all-purpose shoe is not something that you see very often anymore. As it turns out, most of us are in the market for an all-weather shoe. I’ve been stopped by 20-year-olds who ask me who they’re by. I’ve shown them to women who are in their 60s. I’ve taken them off my foot so strangers can look at them and try them on.

And so, these very randomly became shoes I spend a lot of time in. I think I’m going to own several. I already have them in beige and black; I just wish they came in more colors.
