Clog-Specific Sale

No. 6 Clogs Photo: The Vendor

This roundup of things we liked this week originally appeared in the July 18, 2024, edition of the Secret Strategist newsletter, a weekly email where we share the stuff our staff — plus a rotating cast of writers, design-world people, and various others with very good taste — would otherwise keep to themselves. If you want to get our picks straight to your inbox each week, sign up here.

Last week, Elise Joseph posted this sexy, silky striped ’80s(?) couch she found on Facebook Marketplace in L.A. (“the perfect sofa doesn’t exi—” she wrote.) Seems that one is still available, for $1,300. Since we spotted this, we’ve seen an identical one pop up in Boston, and a lovechair version in Ohio, but they both sold quickly — if we see more, we’ll put them in future editions. And if you know who designed this thing, please let us know; we’re very curious. —Katy Schneider and Simone Kitchens

This Week’s List

* Well, well, well, if it isn’t a MNZ and J.Crew collab. We do like the one-piece swimsuit and the white skirt, but the chiffon bias-cut dress seems to be a knockoff of an old Ghost dress. And that’s fine, but there are a lot of nice bias-cut Ghost dresses on eBay! See: here, here, here.

* And then very much in the same genre: this ECI dress, for $40. (ECI dresses are pretty great, this one is fun, too, and this one. And this one!)

* Good clog-specific sale at No. 6. We’d probably get these clogs, or these clogs. (Also, they’re having an in-store sample sale through the 19th.)

* Wouldn’t say no to an enormous Hermès beach towel.

* Pretty teardrop necklace!

* Our friend Bobby Doherty just posted these great-looking striped swim trunks, and we had to know more. “I wanted swim shorts this length and knew they could only be sourced from one place, a place I’ve somehow managed to never buy anything from before: H&M,” he told us. “My thought process was that I’ve never seen Love Island, but I feel like the kind of shorts I want would ultimately be worn by a contestant on Love Island, and I feel like H&M makes Love Island–contestant clothing, and I was 100 percent correct! It had two striped pairs and everything else was like dayglow palm tree.” These are the shorts.
