A Leopard-Print Bikini and a Leopard-Print Chair

This roundup of things we liked this week originally appeared in the July 4, 2024, edition of the Secret Strategist newsletter, a weekly email where we share the stuff our staff — plus a rotating cast of writers, design-world people, and various others with very good taste — would otherwise keep to themselves. If you want to get our picks straight to your inbox each week, sign up here.

We wish for this beautiful, expensive Frama rivet case to use as a bookshelf. Might try to scratch the itch by installing this $200 aluminum cabinet from Amazon on the wall instead. —Katy Schneider and Simone Kitchens

This Week’s List

* Or even just this green filing cabinet (seemingly a knockoff of the Ikea Helmer, which used to come in green but doesn’t anymore).

* These window shades by Marianna Kennedy are very, unusually pretty. Simple but vibrant colors.

* Our handsome lamp of the week is this one by Kovacs.

* Good price for these Pepe Cortés barstools and though they’re coming from Denmark, shipping is under $100. (Elsewhere they’re more like $1,200 for a pair.) These are so great in solid wood, too. Cheaper, still-nice stools: these, from Lichen. Stools are not so easy to find!

* If you were looking for new sneakers, Rihanna’s been wearing popular-in-2003(?), ’04(?), Velcro-strap Pumas in all black. They look good! (These ones are pretty nice too.)

* Speaking of 2003, it seems Paul Frank is in the midst of a sort of renaissance because we saw another Julius tee out and about after seeing this post. Tell ya what has not appreciated: Paul Frank T-shirts. They’re appropriately priced at, like, $18.

* A couple of months ago, Jason Stewart recommended this Costco T-shirt to us. “A good white tee is hard to find … but these from Kirkland Signature are, like, $4 a shirt.” Apparently his pal Chris Black likes it too — he told us about it in his most recent Strategist column. “Just enough heft,” he says. “Wash and dry without a thought.”

* This tiny, timeless, tacky-in-a-good-way leopard bikini from Ganni is very on sale. Alternatively (in addition to?), you could pick up this Ethan Allen leopard chair from New Jersey.
